Michelle has been involved with horses in some form, or fashion, since the age of 5. What started as a summer at Grandma’s, attending summer camp at Peggy Richardson Stables, quickly became an obsession. During her junior exhibitor career, she and her Half- Arabian mare, A-Melody of Love, showed Saddle Seat Equitation and Country English Pleasure. For quite a while, Michelle was without a trainer, due to barns closing and her trainer moving out of state. She and her mother, Marica, would travel and do it all together. These are some of her favorite memories.
In 2011, Michelle found herself horseless and in need of a part time job as she had quit her job to care for her ill mother. That was when she was offered a position teaching summer camp. She fell right back in love with teaching and training. She soon was offered the Assistant Trainer position where she stayed until 2018 after the birth of her daughter.
LaRica was developed as a side business in 2015. After the birth of her daughter, Michelle decided to take the leap and go out on her own. Now she enjoys working close to her home and family at the lovely Feather Creek Farm in east Norman.
Michelle is a highly decorated rider and trainer. She has earned several top placings in all seats, as well as national and world titles in western dressage and classical dressage. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning her USDF Bronze Medal in 2017.
Delanie has been involved with horses since the age of 7, she started out in a week long summer camp and she has been hooked ever since. She started riding hunt seat and then moved on to dressage and hunter over fences. She first started competing at the age of 14 and competed through her junior year of university.
She took a break from riding competitively while she went to school but as soon as she graduated she decided to pursue a professional career in training horses. She had met Michelle when she was an assistant trainer and after Delanie Graduated she reached out to Michelle and they have been working together since.
Delanie has earned top placings in hunt seat over fences and dressage at Morgan Grand National and World Championship horse show.
Feather Creek Farm is located east of Norman on 90 acres of rolling hills. It offers two full size outdoor dressage/jumping arenas and one 20x40 indoor arena, all with premium footing. In addition, it offers a full cross country course for intro through intermediate riders. If you don’t jump, it’s not a problem! The tall trees and pecan grove make perfect scenery to get your horse out of the ring and out for a hack!
Inside the barn, your horse has the luxury of a 12x12 stall with pine shavings, grain fed twice daily, and plenty of high quality hay to meet athletes nutritional needs. Group and individual turn outs are offered with plenty of grazing grass to go around. The best part of all - Dynah, the property owner, lives on site!
